Rebecca Jones graduated from Appalachian State University in 2009 with a Bachelors in History, Secondary Education and a minor in English. There she was granted the Honors Student Teacher award and joined Pi Gamma Mu, the Social Science Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honor Society.
After getting her North Carolina Teaching License in History, Social Studies, and English, she moved back to Raleigh, NC in order to teach at Wake County Public Schools. She has taught all of the core Social Studies subjects (World History, American History I & II, and Civics and Economics) as well as two elective courses (History Through Film and Religion in World Culture/Bible in History), and AP European History.
Ms. Jones has, in the past, served on her School Improvement Team and as PLT leader. She is currently a member of the school's AP Cohort team and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Committee. A great believer in professional development, she takes every offered opportunity to attend workshops on content knowledge and new teaching strategies. In addition to PD offered by WCPSS, she has attended workshops with prestigious organizations including NCCAT (North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching), The NC History Museum, Carolina K-12 (formerly the NC Civic Education Consortium), The NC Council on the Holocaust, and Capturing Kids' Hearts
She currently works at Rolesville High School (go Rams!). She feels very lucky to be working at such a new school with such a great environment. She teaches in a flipped classroom style, in which the typical homework and classwork models are reversed. Students watch lecture videos at home via online videos, while class time is devoted to more in depth and hands on activities such as projects, discussions, simulations, or videos.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact her. Thanks for visiting!
